Gary, IN: The NORTHSHORE AMATEUR SPORTS ACADEMY concluded its 2015 summer camp last week.
NASA partnered with the YWCA of Northwest Indiana in conducting its All-Sports Youth Camp for nine weeks.
Over 450 youth participated in various recreational type drills that included stretching, baserunning, fielding and hitting. The educational module included history lessons of area athletes that had made it to the Major Leagues. Another component included foreign language lessons in Spanish and French. All participants received medals of participation at the end of the program.
The Northshore Amateur Sports Academy, a non-profit organization that provides local youths the opportunity to learn sportsmanship, teamwork and citizenship through sport. The NASA also promotes character development through sporting activities, lifelong physical fitness, a drug-free lifestyle and safe and fun access to healthy activities.
